The rich run a global system that allows them to accumulate capital and pay the lowest possible price for labour. The freedom that results applies only to them. The many simply have to work harder, in conditions that grow ever more insecure, to enrich the few. Democratic politics, which purports to enrich the many, is actually in the pocket of those bankers, media barons and other moguls who run and own everything.
Who wrote the above? Charles Moore in this morning's Daily Telegraph! An interesting read. The penny is beginning to drop, even on the right.

About time. With the near collapse of the Euro - a right-wing project if ever there was one - the US nearing default thanks to the antics of their far right, Murdoch, and now the extreme right committing the atrocity in Norway, the penny has to drop at some point.
A neo-Nazi is NOT extreme right. National Socialist!!!! When the penny drops on the left, then there might be hope. The Euro a right-wing project! Robert, what are you taking? David is a left-wing MEP. He believes in the Euro.

I beg to differ. The 'national' bit is far more significant than the 'socialist' bit in the label.
Having said that, if you follow extreme right and extreme left you tend to meet round the back of the circle: there was little in practice to choose between Hitler's Germany and Stalin's Russia.
Personally, I have difficulty with both right-wing and left-wing ideology, although I am more of a socialist than anything else. My Christian faith makes me deeply suspicious of any ideology that puts nation first, or in any form dehumanises by subordinating people to "the People" or "the State." I celebrate the diversity of culture among the nations, but that is a diversity to be shared, not used to lord it over the others.
For an interesting reflection on right-wing issues from a diferent perspective, read:
