Call for Jews to break off all contacts with Methodists
This weeks Jewish Chronicle carries a very outspoken and heartfelt article by a Jew questioning whether there is any point in Jews continuing dialogue with our Christian "sub-denomination. Worth a read.

Geoffrey Alderman's article in the 'Jewish Chronicle' echoes my piece in 'Portsmouth Jewish News' (not online) published in April. In it I said: "A Christian or Muslim who does not in his heart wish for the conversion of the Jews is not a faithful adherent to his religion; and a faithful Christian or Muslim who declares he is happy for Jews to cleave to their own religion must be, at bottom, disingenuous. This is not the case for the other religions: they are not universalist, not conversionist and are genuinely happy for Jews to remain Jews until the end of time. Thus it is only with Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs and the like that that we can have an honest, open and secure interfaith dialogue." Was I correct?
There is a deeper context to Jewish reaction. It is the knowledge that justice will be denied to the Jew. Recently, a judge was brought out of retirement and, effectively, joined the defence counsel.
that depends on what your view of discussions and dialogue. If you want a meeting where we all state our opinion of a part of our faith "i.e. - what is our view of God?" Then we can do that.
If on the other hand you think that a Christian should never, ever, try to persuade you that Jesus is the messiah then this isn't going to happen. I will always try to explain my faith and convince other people of its truth.
The owner of this blog is a member of the Labour party. No doubt if you discuss politics with him he will try to persuade you that his political views are correct. That doesn't mean you should never discuss politics with him though.
People trying to persuade you that their views on a particular subject are correct is a fact of life. I don't understand the strange view of 'tolerance' that says we can never disagree and never seek to change the other persons mind on a subject. If that is how things will work from now on then the chances of a proper adult conversation on a topic will be pretty slim.
Methodist Preacher has a guest page where non-bloggers can get their ideas amongst the Methodist community.
Your views don't have to coincide with those of Methodist Preacher but the subject matter should be of interest to Methodists and other people of faith.

Self-hating Jews in the minority. Methodism misled by failing to check with the majority of Jews.
