Here in the Birmingham District of British Methodism we are leading the way by, as far as I can see, posting the first two items on the new Connexional Local Notice Board.
A news release from Methodist Church House tells us:
A new feature on the Methodist website allows Methodists all over the country to share news and events with other people. This feature enables anyone to post news regarding their local church or circuit and publicise upcoming activities in local areas. This will give Methodists the opportunity to be inspired by the goings on of other circuits and churches.
It is amazingly easy to post stuff and the output looks good following approval. It can be accessed by District or by historic county boundary.
The front page for the new service is here and the Birmingham District posts, which has two early examples of what can be listed, are here.
This is the sort of dynamic content which will bring the main Methodist website alive. Why not make your district page a "favourite" or even list it on you Google reader?
Hopefully by the end of the year the main site will publish an online lectionary with hymn suggestions, collects and notes, thereby pinching about 50% of the visitors to this site (surely that must be an incentive!). At the moment I only have the time to simply provide the Bible readings - but as a result of my puny exercise I know the demand exists. Imagine if, each week, Ministers and local preachers could have an online discussion as we plan our services?

If you go to our church website www.cavhmc.org.uk you will find notes on the Lectionary Bible readings right up to the end of June and each week the Order of Service for the Morning Service is posted - though it may be late in the week, depending on how early the preacher sends it in to the webmaster.
Thanks. I'll take a look.
